Magimix juicer reviews: Le Duo XL & Plus XL
Both the Magimix Le Duo XL and the Magimix Le Duo Plus XL are stylish and bring a little ‘kudos’ to your kitchen, whilst the design is simple and robust. These appliances are heavy, weighing in at 7.5 kg, but this gives them a good quality feel. Good thing is, they are not that bulky and will take up little space on your kitchen worktop.
The Magimix juicers are almost identical so why such a difference in price? Well the Duo Plus XL comes with two separate attachments; one to make smoothies and the second to prepare vegetables. The latter can be purchased at an extra cost to enable the Duo XL to slice and grate vegetables but there is no option to purchase the smoothie attachment. Find out more in our Magimix juicer review below.
So how do they work?
They are both a centrifugal juicer which enable you to juice efficiently and quickly. With a large 9 cm chute the juicers can take whole fruits at a time minimising the time needed for any preparation. The juice extractor produces a clear juice with no pulp or pips from fruit and veg such as apples, carrots, melons and cucumbers. Just one apple can make enough juice for a small glass without the need to peel or core! The citrus press has both large and small attachments for all sizes of citrus fruits and the juice extracted has just the right amount of pulp ensuring the maximum amount of vitamins are transferred to your glass.
The vegetable preparation attachment that comes with the Le Duo Plus XL (which can also be purchased separately for Le Duo XL) enables you to slice and grate most vegetables.
Finally, the smoothie attachment (that is only included in Le Duo Plus XL package) transforms your fruit and vegetables into smoothies, coulis or even purée for babies. This is our favourite because most families love smoothies and its a great way to get a range of fruits such as berries, pineapple, bananas and much more into the kids!
Cleaning and Maintaining
Cleaning the Magimix is pretty simple. It all comes apart quite easily and there is a great spatula for scraping the basket before washing. Though washing it by hand is a little time consuming, all of the parts can be put into the dishwasher. Both appliances’ have a 3 year parts guarantee and a 30 year guarantee on the motors. The motors are also equipped with thermal protection which will automatically stop the motor if it has been running too long.
What’s our verdict?
If you can spend that bit more we would recommend the Magimix Le Duo Plus XL because the smoothie maker attachment does expand the range of healthy drinks that you can make.
