Dualit juicer review: 88220

Dualit 88220 juicerGood points: High quality product from a trusted kitchen appliance brand. Great looks! Wide feeding chute.

Not so good: Filter struggles with more fibrous fruits. Juice jug is a little on the small side at 800ml.

Our verdict: Certainly not the biggest or most powerful machine, but this is also reflected in the competitive price. A good looking and quality juicer.

 Our Dualit juicer review

Dualit 88220 apple juicingThe Dualit 88220 juicer is priced at just under £100 and is a great product to get you into the juicing lifestyle. It’s very stylish and also compact, so looks great sat on your kitchen worktop but can also be packed away neatly enough. Its main selling point is that it comes equipped with Dualit’s ingenious double sieve technology which involves a two stage extraction process. First, there is a stainless steel micro mesh filter that extracts the juice from the fruit and then it continues to juice the pulp. This process maximises the juice yield and the nutrients taken from each piece of fruit, so you get much less pulp waste than other juicers on the market. The pulp container is removable and has a capacity of 2 litres, this is adequate but you will find more expensive juicers have around 3 litres in capacity.

The Dualit 88220 has a dual speed 800 watt motor, and whilst not as powerful as higher-end juicer models it still handles both hard and soft fruits in equal measure. The 88220 juicer is a centrifugal juicer, with a large 70 mm feeding chute which enables you to put large, sometimes whole pieces of fruit into the juicer and therefore minimising the need for preparation. There is a large 800ml storage jug for extracted juice and this includes a lid to keep the juice fresh and a also froth separator for a smoother juice. The overall design is robust with a weight of 1.8kg. An added bonus is being able to put nearly all the parts into the dishwasher, making this appliance very easy to clean.

Unfortunately, the micro mesh filter will not take high starch fruits such as mangoes and bananas as the mesh could clog up. It also won’t crush ice like some of the more expensive juicers do.

It does however produce a high quality juice and that along with the small(ish) price tag compared to some of the other big named brands, makes it a good buy, especially for first time juicers.
